Swaziland , since 2018 Eswatini whose NOK , the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association , was founded in 1971, first took part in the 1972 Summer Olympics. Swaziland participated in the boycott of African countries in 1976 and stayed away from the Montreal Games. The kingdom also did not take part in the 1980 Games in Moscow. Only since 1984 have athletes been sent to all summer games again. In 1992, athletes from Swaziland took part in the winter games for the first time and so far only. Athletes from Swaziland have not yet won medals.
Overview
Swaziland's Olympic debut took place in Munich in 1972 . A track and field athlete and a marksman made up the country's first Olympic team. The marksman Philip Serjeant became the first Olympian on August 27, 1972. The country followed calls for boycotts from African countries and the USA and stayed away from the games in Montreal in 1976 and Moscow in 1980 .
In 1984 in Los Angeles , Swaziland was again represented at the Olympic Games. In the period that followed, the country's athletes were sent to all subsequent summer games, but were unsuccessful. In 1984 athletes competed in boxing, swimming and weightlifting for the first time. Swimmer Daniela Menegon was the first woman in the country to take part in the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996 . In 2000 a Taekwondoin was used in Sydney .
At the 1992 Winter Games in Albertville , a winter athlete from Swaziland took part in alpine skiing for the first time.
