The NOK of Uzbekistan , the Oʻzbekiston Milliy Olimpiya qoʻmitasi , was founded in 1992 and recognized by the IOC a year later . Uzbekistan has participated in all Olympic Games, winter and summer games, since 1994. This makes Uzbekistan one of the few countries whose Olympic debut took place at the Winter Games. Athletes from Uzbekistan competed for the Soviet Olympic team from 1952 to 1988 during the Soviet Union . In 1992 Uzbek athletes were integrated into the CIS team . Young athletes have taken part in all the Youth Summer Games that have been held to date, as well as the first Youth Winter Games.
Overview
Summer games
Uzbekistan first competed in the 1996 Summer Olympics as an independent state. The first summer Olympians were the wrestlers Schamsiddin Chudojberdijew and Grigory Puljajew on July 19, 1996. The country's first women at the summer games two days later were gymnasts Oksana Chusowitina and Anastassija Jjundschjak. The first medalist of Uzbekistan at the summer games was the judoka Armen Bagdasarow, who won the silver medal in the middleweight division on July 22, 1996. Boxer Karim Toʻlaganov won bronze in the light middleweight division a few days later. In athletics, the decathlete Ramil Ganiyev reached 8th place.
In boxing, the first Olympic victory was achieved at the summer games in 2000. Muhammadqodir Abdullayev won the light welterweight division. Bronze medals were won by Sergey Mixaylov in the light heavyweight division and Rustam Saidov in the super heavyweight division. Freestyle wrestler Artur Taymazov won silver in the super heavyweight division. In the featherweight division, Damir Zachartdinow reached fourth place. The gymnast Yekaterina Xilko came fourth on the trampoline. The marksman Dilshod Muxtorov reached 5th place with the free pistol.
In 2004 two Olympic champions came from the wrestling camp. Artur Taymazov won his silver medal from Sydney. In the Greco-Roman style Aleksandr Doxturishvili won the featherweight. In freestyle, Magomed Ibragimov won silver in the heavyweight division of freestyle wrestling. The boxers Bahodirjon Sultonov in the bantamweight and Oʻtkirbek Haydarov in the light heavyweight both won bronze.
In 2008 Artur Taymazov was able to defend his Olympic victory. Soslan Tigiyev won silver welterweight. In follow-up tests, both athletes were convicted of doping and subsequently disqualified. Taymazov lost his 2008 gold medal, Tigiyev lost his 2008 silver medal and his bronze medal, which he was supposed to win in 2012. The Uzbek participants in Beijing could only look forward to one silver and three bronze medals. The heavyweight judoka Abdullo Tangriyev won silver . His teammate Rishod Sobirov won bronze in the super lightweight. The remaining two bronze medals were won in gymnastics. Anton Fokin won his bronze medal on the parallel bars. With her bronze medal on the trampoline, Yekaterina Xilko was the first woman in Uzbekistan to win a medal at summer games. The canoeist Vadim Menkov crossed the finish line in fourth in the single-canoe over 1000 meters.
In 2012 Artur Taymazov won again in the super heavyweight division. His doping test was not noticed during follow-up tests, so this gold medal was not withdrawn from him. In the middleweight division of the boxing tournament, Abbos Atoyev won bronze. The half light weight judoka Rishod Sobirov also won bronze . The athlete Svetlana Radzivil came in seventh in the high jump. In weightlifting, the heavyweights Ruslan Nurudinov reached 4th place and Ivan Yefremov 5th place. Cyclist Sergey Lagutin achieved fifth place in the road race. Like four years before, the canoeist Vadim Menkov was fourth in the single-canoe over 1000 meters.
The most successful participation in the Olympic Games took place in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. 13 medals were won, including four gold, two silver and seven bronze medals. Olympic champions were the boxer Hasanboy Doʻsmatov in the light flyweight, Shahobiddin Zoirov in the flyweight and Fazliddin Gʻoibnazarov in the light welterweight. Silver won Shaxram Gʻiyosov in the welterweight division and Bektemir Meliqoʻziyev in the middleweight division. Bronze went to Murodjon Ahmadaliyev in the bantamweight division and Rustam Toʻlaganov in the heavyweight division. The fourth gold medal was won by weightlifter Ruslan Nurudinov in the heavyweight division, here Ivan Yefremov was again fifth. Bronze medals also won Ixtiyor Navroʻzov in the lightweight and Magomed Ibragimov in the heavyweight of freestyle wrestling as well as Elmurat Tasmuradow in the featherweight of the Greco-Roman style and the judoka Diyorbek Oʻrozboyev in the super light weight and Rishod Sobirov in the half-light weight. In her seventh participation in the Olympic Games, the gymnast Oksana Chusovitina reached the device finals in the horse jump. At the age of 41, she jumped to seventh place. In 1992, she had participated for the team of the United Team and was Olympic champion with the all-around team. In 2008 and 2012 she started for Germany. The canoeist Gerasim Kochnev was sixth in the Canadians over 1000 meters.

Winter games
Uzbekistan's Olympic debut took place at the 1994 Winter Games in Lillehammer. On February 15, 1994, freestyle skier Larisa Udodova was the first ever female athlete in Uzbekistan to take part in the Olympic Games. Three days later, the first Uzbek men started with the ice dancers Yuris Razguljajew and Muslim Sattarov. Freestyle skier Lina Cheryazova became the first Uzbek medalist and Olympic champion ever with her victory in jumping. In 1998 the figure skater Tatjana Malinina reached 8th place in the individual.

Youth Summer Games
In the first Youth Summer Games in Singapore in 2010 , 21 young athletes, 13 boys and eight girls, took part. They competed in athletics, boxing, gymnastics, wrestling, weightlifting, taekwondo, swimming, shooting, table tennis and judo. Seven medals were won, two silver and five bronze medals. Silver won the judoka Mansurchuja Muminchujaev in the flyweight and the boxer Ahmad Mamadyanov in the welterweight. Bronze went to the boxers Sohidjon Hooboyev in the light flyweight and Sardorbek Begaliev in the light heavyweight, to the wrestler Dierbek Ergashev in the light heavyweight of the freestyle and Ruslan Kamilov in the heavyweight of the Greco-Roman style. The fifth bronze medal won the wrestler Nilufar Gadaeva in the featherweight freestyle. Nurbek Hakkolov had initially won silver in the Greco-Roman style featherweight, but was convicted of doping and disqualified. A bronze medal, which is not included in the Uzbek medal balance, won Mansurchuja Muminchujaev with the mixed team Cairo .
The second Summer Youth Games , held in Nanjing in 2014 , were attended by 28 teenagers, 16 boys and 12 girls. They competed in boxing, judo, taekwondo, wrestling, weight lifting, canoeing, gymnastics, swimming, shooting, rowing, and table tennis. The first youth Olympic champions were celebrated in Nanjing. Gold won the boxer Bektemir Meliqoʻziyev in the middleweight division and the wrestler Ilkhom Bakhromov in the featherweight of the Greco-Roman style. Silver won the boxer Sulaiman Latipov in the flyweight, the Taekwondoin Umida Abdullaeva in the heavyweight and the weightlifter Farhodbek Sobirov in the heavyweight. In the flyweight division, his teammate Adkhamjon Ergashwv won bronze. The lightweight judoka Sukhrob Tursunov and the gymnast Timur Kadirov on the pommel horse also won bronze. Two medals that are not included in the Uzbek medal balance were also won. With the mixed team Team Rouge , Sukrhob Tursunov became Olympic champion in the judo team. With his Bulgarian partner Lidia Nencheva, sport shooter Wladimir Sendungnikov became Olympic champion with the air pistol.
