Oʻtkirbek Haydarov ( Russian Уткирбек Хайдаров Utkirbek Chaidarow ; born January 25, 1974 in Andijon ) is a former Uzbek boxer . Haydarov won the bronze medal in 2005, the silver medal in 2001, and the gold medal in 1999 at the World Championships , the gold medal at the Asian Games in 2002, the silver medal at the Asian Championships in 2005 and the Olympic Games in 2004 . He was also a participant in the 2000 Olympic Games .

Career

In 1999 Haydarov took part in the middleweight division (-75 kg) at the World Championships and, after victories over Jim Rodriguez, Venezuela (11: 4), Salvatore Munno, Italy (6: 4), and Evgeniy Kazantsev, Russia (18: 3), the final, which he won against Adrian Diaconu , Romania (6: 1) and thus became world champion.

At the Olympic Games 2000 , Haydarov met in the first fight against the later silver medalist Gaidarbek Gaidarbekow , Russia , who had not participated in the World Championships, and was eliminated by a narrow margin (11:10). The following year he took part in the Goodwill Games in Brisbane , but also retired early against Gaidarbekow (RSC 1st).

At the 2001 World Championships , Haydarov won over Anthony St. Clair, Trinidad and Tobago (RSC 2nd), Lucian Bute , Romania (23:18), Oleg Maschkin , Ukraine (37:23), and Yordanis Despaigne , Cuba ( 29:28), and a final defeat against Andrei Gogolew , Russia (36:29), the silver medal.

In 2002 Haydarov switched to the light heavyweight division and won the gold medal at the Asian Games and at the World Championships the following year, after winning over Khotso Motau, South Africa (17: 3), Suriya Prasathinpimai, Thailand (21: 6), and Javid Taghiev, Azerbaijan (25:14), the quarter-finals, which he lost to Yordanis Despaigne , Cuba (33:13).

At the 2004 Olympic Games , Haydarov won the bronze medal. He won against Isaac Ekpo, Nigeria (21:11), Abdelhani Kinzi, Algeria (31:19), and İhsan Yıldırım Tarhan , Turkey (16:11), before beating eventual Olympic champion Andre Ward , USA ( 17:11) in the semi-finals . 15), had to give up and thereby won the Olympic bronze medal.
