Terwel Wenkow Pulew (internationally known under the English spelling Tervel Venkov Pulev ; Bulgarian Тервел Венков Пулев ; born January 10, 1983 in Sofia ) is a Bulgarian boxer . Pulew was a silver medalist at the 2010 and 2011 European Championships and a bronze medalist at the 2012 Olympic Games .

Amateur career

In the youth (U17) and junior area (U19) Pulew took part in world and European championships, but could not win any medals. In 2001 he played his first Bulgarian championships in middleweight (-75 kg) and won the silver medal.

Pulew played his first international championships in 2005 at the world championships , but starting in the light heavyweight division (-81 kg), he was eliminated in the first fight against the 2004 Olympic third -party and later bronze medalist at the world championships in Oʻtkirbek Haydarov , Uzbekistan (30:15). The 2006 European Championships were not crowned with success for him either, as he was eliminated in the first fight against the future European Champion Artur Beterbijew , Russia (38:22).

In 2008 Pulew took part in the European Olympic qualification tournament in Pescara , but did not get beyond the round of 16 in the heavyweight division (-91 kg).

At the 2009 World Championships , Pulew lost his second fight against Osmay Acosta , Cuba (11: 2) after beating Abdul Walid, Afghanistan (17: 1 ). The following year he won his first international medal at the 2010 European Championships . After victories and a. in the quarter-finals over Stjepan Vugdelija, Croatia (5: 3), and in the semi-finals over József Darmos , Hungary (AB 2nd), Pulew reached the final, which he lost to Yegor Mechonzew , Russia (10: 1), and thus the Won silver medal.

In 2011 he was able to repeat this success, this time failing in the final to Teymur Məmmədov , Azerbaijan (AB 3rd). In the same year Pulew also took part in the World Championships , but was eliminated in the round of 16 against eventual world champion Oleksandr Ussyk , Ukraine (AB 2nd).
