József Daniel Darmos (born July 1, 1985 in Kiskunmajsa ) is a Hungarian heavyweight boxer .

Amateur career

National championships

He was Hungarian Junior Champion in 2003, and eight times in a row Hungarian Heavyweight Champion from 2004 to 2011. In 2012 and 2013 he was runner-up.

EU and European championships

In May 2006 he took part in the EU Championships in Pécs , where he defeated Boris Boschenko from Germany before he was eliminated in the semi-finals against John M'Bumba from France and thus reached 3rd place. At the EU championships in 2008 in Cétniéwò , he lost in the quarterfinals against Helias Pavlidis from Greece. At the EU Championships in Sofia in 2014 , he lost in the first fight against Igor Jakubowski from Poland.

In 2006 he also took part for the first time in the European Championships in Plovdiv , where he was able to prevail against Milorad Gajović from Montenegro and Mihail Muntean from Moldova before he was eliminated in the quarter-finals against the Ukrainian Denys Pojazyka . At the European Championships in Liverpool in 2008 he defeated Damir Beljo from Bosnia, Elchin Alisade from Azerbaijan and Durmus Keklik from Austria, before losing to Zolak Ananikjan from Armenia in the semi-finals and thus winning bronze. In 2010 in Moscow he defeated Warren Baister from England and Bahram Muzaffer from Turkey, but was eliminated again in the semifinals against Terwel Pulew from Bulgaria and thus won again bronze. In 2011 in Ankara he lost in the preliminary round against Teymur Məmmədov from Azerbaijan. Also at the EM 2013 in Minsk , he lost in the preliminary round to Vladimir Cheles from Moldova.

World championships

At the 2005 World Championships in Mianyang , he was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Alexander Alexejew from Russia, having previously defeated the Canadian Gino Nardari and the Serb Tomislav Antelj. At the 2007 World Cup in Chicago , he defeated Azea Augustama from Haiti, Vitalijus Subačius from Lithuania and Babacar Kamara from Sweden and again reached the quarter-finals, where he had to admit defeat against Yushan Nijiati from China. In 2009 in Milan and 2011 in Baku he reached the last sixteen, where he was eliminated against Ramesyon Akhmedov from Uzbekistan and Teymur Məmmədov from Azerbaijan.

Further

In February and April 2008, he took part in the European Olympic qualification tournaments in Pescara and Athens to fight for a starting place at the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing . He was able to prevail against Aleksandar Aleksić from Austria, Danny Price from England and Babacar Kamara from Sweden, but lost to Helias Pavlidis from Greece and Petrișor Gănănău from Romania, which prevented him from participating in the Olympics.

In order to be able to take part in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London , he again took part in the European Olympic qualification in Trabzon in April 2012 , but retired prematurely against the Irish Tommy McCarthy .

Professional career

He made his professional debut on September 19, 2015. In April 2017 he was Hungarian cruiserweight champion.
