John M'Bumba

John Mickaëlm M'Bumba (born April 29, 1983 in Anderlecht , Belgium ) is a French boxer . He was a bronze medalist at the 2007 World Amateur Heavyweight Championship.

Career

John M'Bumba was born as the son of African immigrants in Anderlecht, Belgium. When he was still a child, he went to France with his parents and after several relocations he settled in Aubervilliers . There he joined the boxing club Boxing Beats Aubervilliers . Said Bennajem became his coach. John M'Bumba is 1.85 m tall as an adult and weighs about 90 kg. So he's boxing in the heavyweight division. He is a member of the French army, which supports him in his sporting ambitions, and is stationed in Montlhéry .

At the French championship in 2005, John M'Bumba reached the semi-finals, in which he lost to Newfel Ouatah . But he was used by the French boxing federation in the same year at the “Coupe des Nations” in Bastia , where he first defeated the German Konstantin Airich , but was beaten on points (16:24) in the final battle against the Cuban top boxer Ismaikel Pérez . He also started in 2005 at the "Jeux de la Francophonie" in Niamey , where he took first place with victories over Mohamed Homrami from Tunisia (23:14) and Didier Bence from Canada (46:28).

At the French championship in 2006 M'Bumba reached the final in the heavyweight division for the first time, but met there again on Newfel Ouateh and lost by knockout in the first round. Nevertheless, he was used at the championship of the European Union in the Hungarian Pécs and won this championship with points wins over Daniel Price from England (18:17), József Darmos from Hungary (38:23) and Łukasz Jarak from Poland (38:21) . He was then at the start of the 2006 European Championships in Plovdiv . There he won his first fight over Memnun Hadžić from Bosnia-Herzegovina on points, but lost in the round of 16 against Wiktar Sujeu from Belarus on points (26:37).

In 2007 John M'Bumba managed to become French champion for the first time with a clear win on points (33: 7) over Newfel Ouateh. He then proved himself at an international tournament in Vigo , Spain , which he won with victories over Daniel Betti from Italy (third round canceled ), Alexander Powernow from Germany (+18:18) and Rafael Lima from Brazil (30:21). At the championship of the European Union in Dublin , however, he could not defend his title from the previous year, he was defeated in the quarterfinals against Clemente Russo from Italy, who would later become world champion in Chicago , just on points (15:17).

At a tournament in Karlsruhe he lost to Alexander Powernow by breaking off in the third round, but won against Lukas Schulz from Germany on points (28:18) and defeating John Sweeney from Ireland by breaking off in the third round, which he did in this tournament came second. At the 2007 World Championships in Chicago , John M'Bumba defeated Keith Tapia from Puerto Rico, who is considered a great boxing hope, on points (28:13). He then defeated the 2007 EU champions Helias Pavlidis from Greece on points (21:14) and reached the semi-finals with a sure point win over the Romanian Mihai Munteanu (33:13). In May 2008 John M'Bumba took third place in St. Quentin after losing in the semi-finals to Stefan Köber from Germany. During his participation in the Olympic Games in Beijing, he defeated the Colombian Deivis Julio (11: 5), but then lost again in the quarter-finals to Rachim Tschakchijew with 9:18 points and thus finished fifth.
