Alexander Powernow (born February 17, 1978 ) is a German Olympic boxer .

career

Powernow starts for the Gifhorn boxing club . In 1996 he took second place at the German Junior Championships. After moving to the seniors, he has been German champion up to 91 kg five times: in 2000 with a final victory over Steffen Kretschmann without a fight and from 2004 to 2007, in 2004 with a final victory over Stefan Köber , who defeated him in 2003. He took second place in 1997 and 2003, in 1998 and 1999 he was third.

At the chemistry cup in Halle he was able to prevail in 2005 (with victory over Yoan Pablo Hernández ) and 2006.

In 2004 he took part in the European Championship in Pula , but failed in the first round at the Bulgarian Kubrat Pulew . In 2005 he reached third places at the EU championships in Cagliari and at the world championships in Mianyang . In the World Cup semifinals, he lost just on points to Alexander Alexejew and won bronze.

He also finished third at the 2006 European Championships in Plovdiv , where he lost to the Russian Roman Romancechuk in the semifinals . At the 2007 World Cup in Chicago , Powernow was eliminated early on against the eventual Italian winner Clemente Russo .
