Wiktar Valerjewitsch Sujeu ( Belarusian Віктар Валер'евіч Зуеў , Russian Виктор Валерьевич Зуев Viktor Valerjewitsch Sujew ; born May 22, 1983 in Vitebsk ) is a Belarusian amateur. His greatest achievement was winning the heavyweight silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
Boxing career
The multiple Belarusian champion was 1998 in Jurmala cadet European champion and 1999 in Sarajevo junior European champion in the middleweight division. At the 1999 European Cadet Championships in Baku , he reached second place.
At the European Championships in Perm in 2002 , he won the bronze medal in the heavyweight division through a walkover exit in the semifinals against Yevgeny Makarenko .
Also at the 12th World Championship in Bangkok in 2003 , he got out in the semi-finals of the heavyweight division and also won the bronze medal. His opponent in the semi-finals would have been Odlanier Solís .
In 2004 he was in Pula after defeat in the final against Alexander Alexejew , vice European heavyweight champion.
When he took part in the heavyweight division at the 28th 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens , he won the silver medal after losing to Odlanier Solís in the final . At the 29th Summer Olympics in Beijing in 2008 , he lost to the Italian Clemente Russo in the first fight .
At the 15th World Cup in Milan in 2009 , he won the bronze medal in the super heavyweight division. He was only defeated in the semi-finals against Roberto Cammarelle .
In 2010 he became vice European super heavyweight champion in Moscow . He failed in the final against Sergei Kuzmin .
At the European Championships 2011 Sujeu met Roberto Cammarelle , Italy , in the preliminary round and had to admit defeat to him prematurely (RSC 2nd). Sujeu also had little success at the world championships in the same year. He failed in the quarterfinals to Erik Pfeifer , Germany (18:15).
In order to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games despite this failure , Sujew took part in the European Olympic qualification tournament in Trabzon , where he was eliminated in the round of 16 against Magomed Omarow , Russia (16: 7), and thus missed the Olympic qualification.
In the 2011/2012 season Sujeu fought for Istanbul in the World Series of Boxing , winning all of four fights. At the 2013 European Championships in Minsk , he won a bronze medal in the super heavyweight division. After victories against Szabolcs Deél from Hungary and Egor Plewako from Ukraine, he got out of the semi-finals without a fight.
