Roberto Cammarelle (* 30th July 1980 in Milan , Italy ) is a former Italian boxer in the super heavyweight .

Career

Roberto Cammarelle began boxing at the age of 14, had been with the Italian national team since 1997 and was part of the sports department of the Polizia di Stato from 2000 .

National successes

He had already won the Italian championship title in the U16 age group in 1995. In the adult category, he was Italian heavyweight runner-up in 1999 and Italian heavyweight champion in 2000 and 2001. In 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2012 he won the title of Italian super heavyweight champion.

Continental successes

At the European Championships he won the silver medal in Perm in 2002 and in Pula in 2004 , after losing to Alexander Powetkin in both final matches . He had previously defeated Sebastian Köber and David Price , among others . In 2011 in Ankara he reached the final again, with victories against Wiktar Sujeu , Tony Yoka and Mihai Nistor , where he was defeated this time by Magomed Omarow and became vice European champion for the third time.

He won the gold medal at EU championships in Madrid in 2004 when he defeated Mariusz Wach in the final . In 2005 in Cagliari he repeated winning the gold medal by beating Kubrat Pulew in the final . In 2006 in Pécs he won his third EU gold medal, defeating Krzysztof Zimnoch by knockout in the first round. He won his fourth and final gold medal at EU championships in 2007 in Dublin with a final win over Cathal McMonagle.

In addition, Cammarelle won the Mediterranean Games of 2005 in Almería , 2009 in Pescara and 2013 in Mersin , where he was able to beat Mohamed Samoudi, Marko Tomasović and Ali Eren Demirezen in the finals .

World Championships and Olympic Games

At the CISM Military World Championships in 2002 in Curragh , he won the silver medal after defeating Alexei Lesin in the semi-finals and losing to Stefan Köber in the final.
