Cornelius "Con" Sheehan (* 3. March 1989 in Clonmel , Ireland ) is an Irish professional boxer in the heavyweight division .

Amateur career

Con Sheehan won 203 of 221 fights as an amateur. He is Irish heavyweight champion from 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, as well as Irish super heavyweight champion from 2012 and 2014. At the EU championships in 2008 he won the silver medal and was eliminated at the European championships in 2008 in the quarter-finals against Petrișor Gănănău . In 2009 he won the gold medal at the EU championships and started at the 2009 World Championships , where he was defeated by Osmay Acosta .

At the European Championships in 2011 and 2013, as well as the World Championships in 2011 and 2013, he was eliminated before reaching the medal ranks. In international tournaments and international matches, he won against David Graf (2007, 2008), Clemente Russo (2010), Mohamed Arjaoui (2011), Alexander Powernow (2011) and Maxim Babanin (2012).

Professional career

In February 2015 he signed a professional contract with NoWhere2Hyde Management from Gary Hyde and won his debut on January 19, 2016 in Los Angeles against the American Jonathan Rice. He is trained by Virgil Hunter and Peter Fury.
