Maxim Igorewitsch Babanin ( Russian Максим Игоревич Бабанин ; born October 7, 1988 in Volgograd ) is a Russian boxer in the super heavyweight (+91 kg).

Maxim Babanin is 1.85 m tall and weighs around 119 kg. In 2007 he became Russian junior champion, won the Tammer tournament in Finland and also the junior European championships in Serbia with a final victory over Tyson Fury . In the following years he finished second at Russian championships in 2009, 2013 and 2014, and third in 2012.

In 2015 he won the Russian championship title by winning the final against Magomed Omarow and also won the Eindhoven Cup 2016 in the Netherlands with a final win against Peter Kadiru . At the national championships in 2016 he was again third.

In 2017 he was called up at the European Championships in Ukraine and won a bronze medal. After victories against Mantas Valavičius, Guido Vianello and Alexei Zavatin, he was eliminated in the semifinals against Wiktor Wychryst . He was qualified for the 2017 World Championships in Hamburg , where he again defeated Guido Vianello in the round of 16 and was eliminated by Joseph Goodall in the quarter- finals.

At the Russian championships in 2017 he was defeated in the final against Magomed Omarow, in 2018 he was third. At the 2019 World Championships in Yekaterinburg , he was eliminated in the semifinals against Bahodir Jalolov and won bronze.

Since 2012 Babanin has been boxing in the World Series of Boxing (WSB), where he has nine wins and three losses.
