Osmay Acosta Duarte (born April 3, 1985 ) is a Cuban boxer . He won the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro , the 2007 Pan American Championships, a bronze medal at the 2008 Olympic Games and a silver medal at the 2009 World Championships .

Career

Osmay Acosta was discovered for boxing when he was a boy and is now part of the Cuban amateur boxer training center in Havana . As a 20-year-old, he started in the Cuban senior light heavyweight championship in 2005, but retired in the first round with a point defeat against the experienced Yunier Dorticos . In 2006 he was used at the Central American and Caribbean Championships and was there with a point victory in the final over Julio Payares from Venezuela (13: 9) tournament winner in the heavyweight division.
