Ítalo Perea

Ítalo Antonio Perea Castillo (born June 10, 1993 in Esmeraldas ) is an Ecuadorian boxer . Perea was the 2010 Pan-American Champion, the 2011 Pan-American Games winner and the 2012 Olympic Games participant .

Career

Perea was in the youth (U17) Pan-American champion and runner-up in the 2009 light heavyweight division (-81 kg). In 2010 he won the Pan-American Championships in the Juniors (U19) category. In the same year he took part for the first time in the Pan American Championships for men and was able to win them with a final victory over Julio César La Cruz , Cuba (10: 9).

At the Pan American Games 2011 , Perea won the super heavyweight division (+91 kg) after victories a. a. against Gerardo Bisbal, Puerto Rico (KO 2nd) and Juan Isidro Hiracheta, Mexico (20:13), the gold medal.

After Perea had won the American Olympic qualification tournament in Rio de Janeiro in 2012 , he took part in the 2012 Olympic Games , but lost in the first fight against defending champion Roberto Cammarelle , Italy (18:10).
