Amateur career

On the way to the title he won, among other things, in the semifinals against Peter Hussing and in the final against Francesco Damiani , who had previously beaten Teófilo Stevenson .
In 1983 he lost by knockout against Stevenson, in 1984 he was defeated by the Cuban on points.
At the Pan American Games in 1983, Tyrell finished third. He won in the quarter-finals against Lennox Lewis , Canada (5-0), in the semifinals against Aziz Salihu , Yugoslavia (5-0), and in the final again against Francesco Damiani, Italy (4-1).
His record was 108-6-4.
Professional career
Biggs' professional boxer career began in November 1984. After he was able to make his first 15 professional fights victorious (including two very strong opponents with James "Quick" Tillis and Renaldo Snipes ), his only major title fight took place on October 16, 1987, the he lost to Mike Tyson by technical knockout in the seventh round. He did not return to the ring until a year later, but he also lost against Francesco Damiani , whom he was able to defeat twice as an amateur, due to an abort due to a laceration over his right eye. He also lost his next fight against Gary Mason , the third in a row against an undefeated opponent. In 1990 he beat Ossie Ocasio and Rodolfo Marin (record 17-0). In 1991 he fought the aspiring future world champions Riddick Bowe and Lennox Lewis . He also lost both fights by knockout. After these defeats he never made it to the top of the world. Later comeback attempts failed, including defeats to Tony Tubbs and Buster Mathis Jr. , so that he ended his career in 1998.
