BoxRec (Boxing Record) or BoxRec.com is an encyclopedically designed website about professional boxers and their fights, which is constantly updated by around 110 volunteer editors from over 40 countries. Like a dictionary, the website lists all male and female professional boxers worldwide, from the beginnings of the Queensberry rules to the present day. It also provides information about past and future boxing matches and creates rankings.

The website is offered in eleven languages ​​(including German).

Boxer profile

General information

The side of a boxer contains a lot of information, these are usually: global ID number (identification number), name, maiden name, fight name, gender, height (in feet and cm), range (in feet and cm), date of birth, place of birth, Place of residence, nationality, weight class , display and battle statistics.

"Name" is the one by which a boxer is known to the general public, while "Birth name" is the actual, correct name. For example, the German boxers Marco Huck and Felix Sturm , actually Muamer Hukić and Adnan Ćatić, are called. Such name changes are mainly carried out for recognition and marketing reasons. Fighting names, on the other hand, are additional designations of a boxer that are awarded on the basis of special achievements and / or characteristics. For example, Óscar de la Hoya was called "Golden Boy" because of his filigree boxing technique and his appearance, while Mike Tyson, for example, was called "Iron Mike" because of his long invincibility and his hard hits.
