Amateur career

The 1.85 meter tall Oluokun won the 2003 Pan-African Games in the Nigerian capital Abuja in the super heavyweight division with a points win in the final (13-8) over the Egyptian Mohamed Aly . In 2004 he took part in the Olympic Games in Athens for Nigeria , but already lost in the preliminary round 13-29 despite three knockdowns against the Italian southpaw and bronze medalist Roberto Cammarelle .

Professional career

In 2005 Gbenga Oluokun switched to the professional camp and was signed by the Hamburg boxing stable Spotlight Boxing . He won his first 16 fights against build-up opponents. On April 25, 2009 he lost against the German boxer Manuel Charr in an internal duel by Spotlight Boxpromotion by knockout in the seventh round.

Oluokun caused a surprise when he won a points win over eight rounds against former WBO world champion Lamon Brewster on August 29, 2009 in Halle (Westphalia) . In October 2009, a promotion contract with Sauerland Event GmbH followed, during which he boxed most of the heavyweights of the promoter Sauerland René Dettweiler , the Bulgarians Kubrat Pulew , Robert Helenius and Oleh Platow and could not fight for victory.

With a TKO victory over Konstantin Airich in 2010, Oluokun reported back and immediately suffered defeats against well-known opponents in the following fights. The point defeats against Erkan Teper and Edmund Gerber , both of which he clearly dominated, were more than controversial. He suffered further defeats against Carlos Takam , Vyacheslav Hlaskow and Mariusz Wach .

Oluokun's last professional fight so far was on October 17, 2015 in Wieliczka, Poland, against Krzysztof Zimnoch . He lost by knockout in round 2.
