Oyo is a city in the Nigerian state of the same name Oyo and is located in the west of Nigeria. According to a calculation from 2012, it has over 369,894 inhabitants.

In the middle of the 17th century, the kingdom of Oyo , which was established by Yoruba , included large areas between the Niger and Volta rivers . The city is now the seat of the Alafins (King) of the Yoruba of Oyo.
