René Dettweiler (born April 25, 1983 in Lübz , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ) is a German professional boxer.

amateur

In his time as an amateur southpaw Dettweiler played 70 fights for BC Schwerin , of which he won 50. There were also four draws and 16 defeats. As an amateur he achieved the following titles:

  • Int. German Vice Junior Heavyweight Champion 2000,
  • Fifth place in the European Junior Championships 2001,
  • Third place German championship 2002.

Professional career

Born in Mecklenburg, he made his professional debut on May 31, 2003. He was trained by Manfred Wolke , and later he switched to Otto Ramin. After initially 18 victorious fights, including against Ondřej Pála , he boxed on November 4, 2006 against the experienced British Michael Sprott for the EU heavyweight title, but lost on points. In August 2008 he lost just a little to his stable colleague Cengiz Koç , and in October 2009 he celebrated his greatest success with a win against Nigerian Olympian Gbenga Oluokun (17-1). In his next fight on January 30, 2010, he was knocked out in two rounds against young talent Edmund Gerber (9-0).
