Kickboxing

amateur

In 1999 Koç was third in the German championship in the super heavyweight class, at the World Championships in Houston he lost early to Muchtarchan Dildabekow . He finished the European Championship in Tampere in May 2000 after a semi-final defeat against Alexei Lesin with a third place and thus qualified for participation in the Olympic Games in Sydney, which will take place a little later . There he disappointed and went spectacularly in the first fight in the first round against the Cuban participant Alexis Rubalcaba KO. His record was 32 fights, 23 wins (17 by knockout) with seven defeats and two draws. Koç was active as an amateur for Hertha BSC .

professional

In 2001 he became a professional in Wilfried Sauerland's boxing stable , but could never really convince. As a relatively small standard boom with no particular mobility and lack of aggressiveness, it did not seem to have the potential of a future world-class professional. But there was also a lack of diligence in training, so that point victories against Roman Bugaj, who only weighed 92 kg, were highly controversial in the build-up phase.

After another controversial win against the former WBC cruiserweight title holder Marcelo Domínguez , he was allowed to box against the British Michael Sprott for the EU title, but lost by split decision. A fight for the European Championship against the Italian Paolo Vidoz in January 2006 was unsuccessful.

Then he boxed on November 11, 2006 against his stable mate Timo Hoffmann , but recorded another point defeat. After the fight, he announced his resignation.

On December 8, 2007 he wanted to make a comeback against Oleg Platov , but canceled the fight.

On August 30, 2008 Koç made a successful comeback against René Dettweiler . He won the fight not scheduled over the full distance on points.
