Armand Carlos Netsing Takam (born December 6, 1980 in Douala ) is a heavyweight boxer from Cameroon with French citizenship who took part in the 2004 Olympic Games .

amateur

He celebrated his greatest success as an amateur in 2003 when he won the title at the African Championships in Yaoundé , and took third place at the All-Africa Games in Abuja that same year .

In January 2004, he won the African qualifying tournament in Casablanca and won the right to take part in the Summer Olympics in Athens . There he was eliminated in the super heavyweight class in the first fight, he was defeated by the later silver medalist Mohamed Aly from Egypt on points.

professional

In 2005 Takam switched to the professional warehouse and is under contract with Michel Acaries in France . He lost after several successful build-up battles against his first undefeated opponent Gregory Tony (10-0). Takam was able to knock out some veterans like Gbenga Oloukun , Francois Botha and Michael Grant . On October 28, 2017, Carlos Takam met Anthony Joshua and lost in the tenth round to a technical knockout. Takam, who stood in as a substitute for the injured Kubrat Pulev two weeks before the fight , showed up to the 10th round as a strong opponent for Joshua. In the 10th round Takam had to take some impact hits, but was still agile in the upper body and avoided further wrestling from Joshua when the referee broke off the fight. Many fans as well as the boxing experts felt that the referee canceled it as premature and the two boxers also said after the fight that they would have liked to continue fighting.
