Roman Kapitonenko

Roman Kapitonenko ( Ukrainian : Роман Капітоненко; born January 21, 1981 ) is a Ukrainian super heavyweight amateur boxer and vice world champion from 2009.

Career

Kapitonenko is multiple Ukrainian champion (including 2008 2009 2010 2011) and in 2008 came third at the 37th European Championships in Liverpool . He won against Vladimír Průša from the Czech Republic and Yousef Abdelghani from Israel in each case prematurely and moved into the semifinals, where he lost to Kubrat Pulew from Bulgaria 4-6 on points. He won another bronze medal at the 38th European Championships in Moscow in 2010 , where he defeated the Serbs Milutin Stanković 7-0 and Modo Sallah from Sweden 5-1. In the semifinals he was defeated by Belarusian Viktor Sujew 3: 7.

He won the silver medal in the super heavyweight division at the 15th World Championships in Milan in September 2009 . He defeated Razvan Cojanu from Romania 13: 9, Erislandy Savón from Cuba 17: 6 and Zhang Zhilei from China 5: 2. In the final, however, he was defeated by the Italian Roberto Cammarelle 5:10. At the 16th World Championships from September to October 2011 in Baku , he lost in the round of 16 against the German Erik Pfeifer 14:22.

In the qualification for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London , which took place in Trabzon , he was again narrowly defeated by the Belarusian Viktor Sujew (14:15), who was then eliminated by Magomed Omarow .
