Juraj Neidhardt
Juraj Neidhardt (born October 15, 1901 in Zagreb , † July 13, 1979 in Sarajevo ) was a Yugoslav architect .
Life
He studied architecture under Peter Behrens at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna until 1924 , then worked in Zagreb and from 1930 to 1932 in Behrens' Berlin studio. From 1933 to 1935 he worked for Le Corbusier in Paris . From 1938 he lived in Sarajevo, where he became a professor at the university's faculty of architecture and urban planning in 1953 .
He was a member of the Yugoslav Academy of Sciences and Arts since 1963 and of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia-Herzegovina since 1978 .
Buildings
Well-known buildings designed by Juraj Neidhardt include the Faculty of Philosophy (1955–1959) and Chemistry (1959–1964) of the University of Sarajevo, the Hotel Metalurg in Zenica , and the Parliament Building in Sarajevo (1955–1979). He was also significantly involved in the reconstruction of the old town of Sarajevo ( Baščaršija ).
