Abbos Abdurazzoqovich Atoyev (dt too. Abbos Atojew , English also. Abbos Atoev * 7. June 1986 in Ko'lxatib at Vobkent , Oblast Bukhara , Uzbek SSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Uzbek amateur boxer .

Career

His greatest success in youth was winning a bronze middleweight medal at the 2004 Junior World Championships in South Korea . He defeated, among other things, the later Olympic champion James DeGale .

In 2007 he won the light heavyweight Asian Championships in Mongolia with a final victory against the eventual Olympic champion Zhang Xiaoping and was also able to secure victory in this weight class at the World Championships in Chicago . He defeated Constantin Bejenaru , Mamadou Diambang, Marijo Šivolija , Jerkebulan Schynalijew and the eventual world champion Artur Beterbijew .

He was then qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , but lost his first fight against Jachan Kurbanov . At the Asian Championships in China in 2009 , he was also eliminated in the first fight against Vijender Kumar .

He then switched to the middleweight division and surprisingly won the gold medal there at the 2009 World Championships in Milan , after beating Ahmed Saraku, Kentarō Hayashi, Yamaguchi Falcão , Konstantin Buga , Vijender Kumar and Andranik Hakobjan . At the 2010 Asian Games in China, he won silver in the middleweight division when he was again defeated in the final against Vijender Kumar.

At the 2011 World Championships in Baku he lost in the first fight against Ryōta Murata , but achieved first place in the Asian Olympic qualification in 2012 in Astana . At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 he fought his way to the semi-finals against Badreddine Haddioui, Bogdan Juratoni and Vijender Kumar, where he was eliminated with a bronze medal in the middleweight division with just 12:13 against Ryota Murata.

Atoyev also won international tournaments in Finland , Pakistan , Serbia , Taiwan , Turkey , Ukraine and Uzbekistan. He won victories against Sergei Kowaljow , Maxim Koptjakow , Imre Szellő , René Krause , Dinesh Kumar , Eamon O'Kane , Adem Kılıççı , Chouaib Bouloudinats , Artjom Tschebotarjow , Rey Recio and Dmitri Tschudinow .
