Dschachan Kurbanow (born February 12, 1986 in Leninobod; today: Khujand ) is a boxer from Tajikistan . Kurbanow was a participant in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games and bronze medalist at the 2010 Asian Games .

Career

Dschachan Kurbanow first appeared in the international boxing scene of amateurs in 2005, when he became Asian middleweight champion in Ho Chi Minh City with a victory over Cho Deok Jin from South Korea at the age of 19 .

In 2007 he started at the Asian Cup in Ulaanbaatar a weight class higher, in the light heavyweight division, and lost there in the quarterfinals against Zhang Xiaoping from China on points. He came in 5th place. At the world championship of the same year in Chicago he won his first fight against Luis Gonzalez from Venezuela on points, but lost in his next fight against Yerkabulan Schindijew from Kazakhstan by disqualification in the 4th round.
