Bogdan Andrei Juratoni (born June 17, 1990 in Alba Iulia ) a Romanian boxer and 2012 middleweight Olympian.

Career

The 1.78 m tall left boom took part in the 2006 European Cadet Championships in Albania and won the silver medal in the featherweight division. In 2007 he won the gold medal in the weight class up to 66 kg at the EU Cadet Championships in Italy and reached the quarter-finals of the European Junior Championships in Serbia , where he was eliminated by Zdeněk Chládek . At the World Youth Championships in Mexico in 2008 , he also made it to the quarter-finals in the welterweight division and lost there against the eventual gold medalist Óscar Molina .

In 2009, after losing to Darren O'Neill in the semi-final, he won a bronze medal in the middleweight division at the EU Championships in Denmark . In 2011 he took part in the European Championships in Turkey , where he lost to Peter Müllenberg in the round of 16 after beating Aleksandar Drenovak .

He achieved his greatest success at the 2011 World Championships in Azerbaijan when he won a bronze medal in the middleweight division. After victories against Matej Dujić, Tibor Varga, Emilio Correa and Andranik Hakobjan , he was only eliminated in the semifinals against Jewhen Chytrow . So he was also qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games in England , but lost there against Abbos Atoyev with 10:12.

At the 2013 European Championships in Belarus , he won the middleweight silver medal after losing 2-1 in the final against Jason Quigley , having previously defeated Aston Brown, Vitali Bondarenko and Zoltán Harcsa . He also took part in the 2013 World Championships in Kazakhstan , where he defeated Wen Yinhang and Michał Kowalczyk, but failed in the quarter-finals against Schänibek Älimchanuly .

After not taking part in either the European Championships in Bulgaria or the World Cup in Qatar in 2015 , he tried to qualify for the Olympic Games in Brazil in 2016 . However, he was eliminated from the elimination tournaments in Turkey, Azerbaijan and Venezuela early against Anthony Fowler , Raul Sanchez and Xhek Paskali. At the European Championships in 2017 in Ukraine , he boxed in the light heavyweight division, but lost in the first duel against Sean Lazzerini.

Juratoni is also the Romanian champion of 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 in the middleweight division, as well as in 2017 in the light heavyweight division.
