Peter Müllenberg (born December 30, 1987 in Almelo ) is a Dutch light heavyweight amateur boxer.

Career

He started boxing at the age of 15, fought around 150 fights until mid-2011 and became Dutch champion several times.

European Championships / European Games

Peter Müllenberg already took part in the Junior European Championships 2005 in Tallinn , where he was eliminated in the second fight. At the EU Junior Championships in Rome in 2006 , he then won a bronze medal in the welterweight division. He prevailed against Murat Beyazıt from Turkey and Niko Jokinen from Finland and was only defeated in the semifinals by the English cadet world champion Anthony Ogogo . He was also subject to this at the 2010 European Championships in Moscow .

At the 2011 European Championships in Ankara he reached the quarter-finals by winning against Danijel Topalović from Bosnia and Bogdan Juratoni from Romania, where he was finally defeated by Maxim Koptjakow from Russia.

In 2013 he won the silver medal in the light heavyweight division at the European Championships in Minsk, Belarus . He won in the preliminary round against Lawrence Osueke from England, in the second round against Rauf Rahimow from Azerbaijan, in the quarterfinals against Mateusz Tryc from Poland and in the semifinals against Petru Ciobanu from Moldova. In the final fight he was finally defeated by Nikita Ivanov from Russia.

After Müllenberg failed in the quarter-finals to Teymur Məmmədov at the European Games in Baku in 2015 , he was able to reach the final at the European Championships in the same year. In this he lost to Joe Ward and won the silver medal again.

In 2017 he took part in the European Championships in Kharkiv , where he failed in the round of 16 against Muslim Gadschimagomedov .

World championships

His first World Cup participation took place in 2006 at the Junior World Championships in Agadir , where he was eliminated in the second fight. In 2007 he took part in the World Championships in Chicago , where he was defeated in the first duel against the Chinese Wang Jianzheng.

In 2010 he won the middleweight silver medal at the World Military Championships at Camp Lejeune . After victorious fights against Kaupo Arro from Estonia, Luca Podda from Italy and Damarias Russell from the USA, he only lost in the final against Pedro Lima from Brazil. He also won the middleweight gold medal at the World Military Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2011 . He won against Nabah Hzam from Qatar, now also against Pedro Lima from Brazil, Ali Nurmatow from Kazakhstan and Hassan Chagtemi from Tunisia. The 2011 World Championships in Baku , he finished on the other hand due to a narrow defeat with 13:14 against the Chinese Zhang Jianting.

At the 2013 World Championships in Almaty , he went to the light heavyweight division for the first time and was able to defeat Arslanbek Achilov and Scott Forrest. In the quarterfinals he then lost to Oybek Mamazulunov .

In 2014 he won the military world championships in Almaty in the light heavyweight division. He won against Zhang Yawei from China, Michel Borges from Brazil, Bouziane Houna from Algeria and Arman Rispek from Kazakhstan.

At the 2015 World Championships in Doha he reached the quarter-finals, which he lost to Pawel Siljagin .

Olympic games

In the European Olympic qualification in Italy and Greece in 2008 , he defeated Alexander Rubyuk from Estonia, but lost to the Finn Niko Jokinen and the French Jean-Mickaël Raymond .

The European Olympic qualification in Turkey in 2012 was not very successful either, as Müllenberg was defeated by the Italian Simone Fiori by just 9:10 in the first fight.

In 2016, however, he fought for a starting place for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro at the European qualification in Samsun and qualified for the Olympics for the first time after 2008 and 2012. He had defeated Ainar Karlson from Estonia, Surkho Sjamilov from Norway and Mehmet Ünal from Turkey. At the games themselves, he beat the Iranian Ehsan Rouzbahani in the preliminary round , but was eliminated in the round of 16 against the Azerbaijani Teymur Məmmədov .

World Series of Boxing (WSB)

From 2013 to 2016 Müllenberg boxed for the teams Italia Thunder and Morocco Atlas Lions in the World Series of Boxing and holds five wins (Braian Suarez, Hichem Kaalaour, Joshua Buatsi , Aolin Zhang and Bakary Diabira) and three losses ( Oleksandr Chyschnjak , Julio César La Cruz and Pawel Siljagin ).

Bundesliga

Müllenberg has been boxing in the German Bundesliga since 2009/2010 and has already fought for the teams boxing team Windmill, SV Motor Babelsberg and Velberter BC.
