Mehmet Nadir Unal

Mehmet Nadir Ünal (born January 13, 1993 ) is a Turkish boxer and former kickboxer . As a boxer, he was an Olympian in the light heavyweight division in 2016 .

Career

Mehmet Nadir Ünal began his martial arts career as a kickboxer, where he won a bronze medal at the WAKO European Championship 2012 (discipline K-1 up to 81 kg) in Ankara .

From 2014 he concentrated on boxing, was quarter-finalist of the EU championships in 2014 and started in the European Olympic qualification in April 2016. There he defeated the Georgian Nikolos Sechniaschwili, the Bosnian Džemal Bošnjak and the Azerbaijani Teymur Məmmədov , lost in the semifinals against the Dutchman Peter Müllenberg , but defeated the Ukrainian Oleksandr Chyschnjak in the fight for third place . At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , he reached the round of 16 without a fight against the Moroccan Hassan Saada, where he was eliminated by the Cuban Julio César La Cruz .

In 2016 he also played two fights for the Türkiye Conquerors team in the World Series of Boxing (WSB). He lost to Julio César La Cruz and won against Zhang Yawei.
