Džemal Bošnjak (* 23. May 1985 in Nikšić ) is a Bosnian boxer in light heavyweight .

Amateur career

Džemal Bošnjak started boxing in 2000, is left wing arm , around 176 cm tall and is trained by Almedin Fetahović . Among other things, he has won multiple Bosnian champions and is the winner of international tournaments in Bosnia and Macedonia. In a 2008 tournament he beat Marijo Šivolija .

He represented Bosnia at the 2009 World Championships in Milan , 2011 in Baku , 2013 in Almaty and 2015 in Doha , where he was able to reach the round of 16 in 2011 and 2013 respectively. His defeated opponents included Lennon Bannis from Dominica, Hrvoje Sep from Croatia and Nikolajs Grišuņins from Latvia.

At the 2011 European Championships in Ankara , he beat Boško Drašković from Montenegro, but lost to Abdelkader Bouhenia from France in the round of 16 . He lost to this in the semi-finals of the Mediterranean Games 2013 in Mersin and won a bronze medal. At the 2015 European Games in Baku , he defeated Polinikis Kalamaras from Greece and Suliman Abduraschidow from France, before being knocked out 2-1 in the quarter-finals against Valentino Manfredonia from Italy. He was also a participant in the 2015 European Championships in Samokow and the 2016 European Olympic qualification in Samsun . He reached the quarter-finals in the worldwide Olympic qualification in Baku in June 2016.

In June 2017 he was a participant in the European Championships in Kharkiv , where he was eliminated in the preliminary round against Thomas Whittaker. In 2019 he won the Balkan Championships in Turkey .

Professional career

On April 28, 2018, he made his professional debut in Sarajevo. In March 2019 he won the German international cruiserweight championship in Nuremberg .
