Nikita Yuryevich Ivanov

Nikita Jurjewitsch Ivanov ( Russian: Никита Юрьевич Иванов ; * April 14, 1986 ) is a former Russian boxer . He was runner-up European champion in 2011 and light heavyweight European champion in 2013 .

Nikita Ivanov, from Odintsovo in Moscow Oblast , started boxing in 1996 at the age of 10. He belonged to a boxing club in Moscow and is or was trained by EA Ivanko, AI Garakjana and SJ Smirnow. He is a member of the army, 1.85 meters tall and boxed in light heavyweight, the weight class up to 81 kg body weight.

Career

Nikita Ivanov retired from the Russian championships in 2007 in the first fight against Yegor Mechonzew and at the Russian championships in 2008 in the quarter-finals against Alexander Moskovsky. In 2009 he finally became Russian champion with a final victory against Eduard Jakuschew and in 2010 he fought for second place after a final defeat against Yegor Mechonzew. At the 2011 championships, he beat Yevgeny Tishchenko in the semifinals and lost again to Mechonzew in the final.

Mechonzew was then sent to the 2011 World Championships in Baku and Ivanov to the 2011 European Championships in Ankara . Ivanov fought his way to the final against Nikolajs Grišuņins and Hrvoje Sep and lost there against Joe Ward , making him runner-up in Europe. At the Russian Championships in 2012 he was runner-up again after losing to Dmitri Biwol in the final.

In 2013 he took part in the European Championships in Minsk and achieved the greatest success of his career when he was able to defeat Boško Drašković and Peter Müllenberg and become European champion. He then started at the 2013 World Championships in Almaty , but was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Joe Ward after defeating Avni Yıldırım and Simone Fiori.

World Series of Boxing

In the World Series of Boxing Ivanov fought for the Russian Boxing Team and scored, among other things, a victory against Julio César La Cruz .

APB boxing

In the semi-professional tournament mode of the amateur world association AIBA, Ivanov was able to defeat Joe Ward , Ehsan Rouzbahani and Abdelhafid Benchabla in 2014/15 , but lost to Kennedy St-Pierre and Mathieu Bauderlique .
