Catalina Saavedra Pérez (born January 9, 1968 in Valparaíso , Chile ) is a Chilean actress .

biography

Catalina Saavedra Pérez is the daughter of the Chilean writer Omar Saavedra Santis . She studied acting at the Escuela de Teatro Imagen , where she graduated in 1987. She then studied at the Premio Nacional de Artes de la Representación y Audiovisuales de Chile and played theater. She also studied experimental theater in Barcelona. She made her screen debut in Hasta en las mejores familias , published in 1994 and directed by Gustavo Letelier , alongside Juan Pablo Bastidas and Tennyson Ferrada .

Saavedra became internationally known for her portrayal of the housemaid Raquel in Sebastián Silva's Mexican-Chilean drama La Nana - The Pearl at the Side of Claudia Celedón and Mariana Loyola . It has received international acclaim from film critics and has been nominated for several film awards. So it was both the Satellite Awards 2009 as Best Actress in the drama category than for the Chlotrudis Award in 2010 as Best Actress nomination. At the Gotham Awards 2009 she received the Breakthrough Actor Award .
