Mathieu Albert Daniel Bauderlique (* 3. July 1989 in Hénin-Beaumont ) is a French professional boxer in light heavyweight . In 2016 he won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .

Amateur career

Mathieu Bauderlique won a bronze middleweight medal at the Junior European Championships in Serbia in 2007 . After finishing third at the French championships in 2008, he won the middleweight championship in 2009 and 2010. In 2011 he was runner-up.

At the Mediterranean Games in 2009 he won a bronze medal and started at the 2009 World Championships in Milan , where he was eliminated in the second preliminary round. He was also quarter-finalist at the 2010 European Championships in Moscow .

In the 2012/13 season of the World Series of Boxing Bauderlique played three fights for the Algeria Desert Hawks , of which he won only one.

AIBA Pro Boxing (APB)

Since October 2014, Bauderlique started in the newly founded professional area "APB" of the IOC recognized world association AIBA , after it was possible for the first time professional boxers to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . In the first cycle he was able to win against Aedilbek Nijasymbetow and Kennedy St-Pierre , but lost to Ehsan Rouzbahani . In the second cycle Bauderlique won against Nikita Iwanow , Joe Ward and Spas Genow , which he qualified for the title fight against Ehsan Rouzbahani. He defeated this in September 2015, thus becoming APB light heavyweight champion and at the same time qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games. There he defeated the Colombian Juan Carrillo in the round of 16 and the Ecuadorian Carlos Mina in the quarter-finals . In the semifinals he was then eliminated with a bronze medal against Julio César La Cruz .

Professional career

He won his professional debut on October 22, 2011. On April 28, 2018, he won the French light heavyweight championship. In October 2018 he became WBC Francophone Champion and in March 2019 WBA Intercontinental Champion.
