Spas Genow , Bulgarian : Спас Генов; English transcription : Spas Genov (born May 24, 1981 in Burgas ) is a Bulgarian boxer .

Spas Genow was able to reach the quarter-finals of the European Championships in Perm in 2002 and started at the World Championships in 2003 in Bangkok . There he surprisingly beat the European and world champion Dorel Simion and the two-time African champion Benamar Meskine before he was eliminated in the round of 16 against the reigning world champion Lorenzo Aragón .

His biggest success was winning the silver medal in the welterweight division at the 2006 European Championships in Plovdiv , when he reached the final against Nasimi Aydinov from Azerbaijan, Michał Starbała from Poland, Zoran Mitrovic of Serbia and Kahaber Jwania from Georgia, in which he compared Andrei Balanow from Russia was defeated.

Genow is also the winner of international tournaments in Bulgaria, Italy, Spain, Bosnia and Serbia, as well as multiple Bulgarian champion, most recently in 2008 in the light heavyweight division. Since 2008 he has played twelve successful professional fights in Germany and Bulgaria, of which he won eight early.

From 2014 he boxed at "Pro Boxing" of the amateur association AIBA . He has so far defeated Džemal Bošnjak , Oybek Mamazulunov and Kennedy St-Pierre , while suffering losses to Joe Ward and Mathieu Bauderlique .

After this was made possible for professional boxers for the first time, he tried to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, but lost 2-1 in the eliminations in Venezuela against Jonathan Esquivel.
