Andrei Wladimirowitsch Balanow ( Russian Андрей Владимирович Баланов ; born  April 27, 1976 in Chekhov ) is a former Russian amateur boxer.

Career

Andrei Balanow was around 1.74 m tall during his competitive career and won a bronze medal in the light middleweight division at the Junior World Championships in Istanbul in 1994 . He lost it in the semifinals against Jorge Gutiérrez after he had previously defeated Rumen Sotirow and Rhoshii Wells . In the same year he was also the first Russian welterweight champion of the elite class (adults).

In 1999 he took part in the World Championships in Houston , but was still defeated in the preliminary round against Dilschod Yarbekow (6: 7). Even at the 2005 World Cup in Mianyang , he could not achieve a medal placement; Although he beat Mursit Nuraidinakan (tKo) and Xavier Noël (19: 5), he was eliminated in the round of 16 against Erislandi Lara (16:28).

2006 was his most successful year. He not only won the Russian Championships again, but also the European Championships in Plovdiv , where he was Kris Carslaw (tKo), Bülent Ulusoy (tko), Štěpán Horváth (tKo), Olexander Stretskii (31:11) and Spas Genow (32:12 ) defeated. In 2007 he was again Russian champion and took part in the World Championships in Chicago . After victories against Olexander Stretskii (14: 5) and Hosam Bakr Abdin (18:14), he lost again in the round of 16 against Non Boonjumnong (12:16).

From February to April 2008 he was a participant in the European Olympic qualifications in Italy and Greece. With wins against Bogdan Juratoni (27: 7), Manuel Ernesti (24: 5) and Samuel Matewosian (14: 6), as well as defeats against Jaoid Chiguer (16:24) and Billy Saunders (11:18), he was able to win qualify for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. There he defeated Mujandjae Kasuto (8: 5) before losing to Demetrius Andrade (3:14) in the round of 16 .

In addition, he defeated Qanat Ïsläm , Noelvis Veitia , Vitalie Grușac , Demetrius Andrade , Erislandy Lara , Alfredo Angulo and Matthew Macklin in international matches .
