Xavier Noël

Xavier Noël (born July 11, 1976 in Les Abymes , Guadeloupe ) is a former French welterweight amateur boxer. The seven-time French champion and multiple tournament winner won the Mediterranean Games in Tunisia in 2001 and the silver medal at the European Championships in Croatia in 2004. Also in 2004 he represented his home country at the Summer Olympics in Greece.

Boxing career

He was French runner-up in 1999 and 2000, after losing to Hussein Bayram in both final matches . In 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008 he finally became French champion, defeating Ihsan Lahmar, Karim Bettaibi, Jaoid Chiguer , Salim Larbi, Nabil Bouneb, Edmond Mebenga, Cédric Vitu and Jean-Bernard Vandenbussche, among others . In 2009 he reached the bronze medal at the French Championships after losing to Adriani Vastine in the semifinals.

  • September 2001: 1st place at the 14th Mediterranean Games in Tunis , u. a. Wins against Juan Manuel Barreda from Spain and Sami Khelifi from Tunisia.
  • June 2003: 2nd place at the 1st EU Championships in Strasbourg , victories against Kariam Ysopov from Belgium, Nikolajs Grisunins from Latvia and Mirosław Nowosada from Poland, final defeat against Bülent Ulusoy from Turkey
  • February 2004: 2nd place at the 35th European Championships in Pula , final defeat against Oleg Saitow from Russia
  • July 2005: 2nd place at the Mediterranean Games in Almería , victories against Ait Hammi Miloud from Morocco and Borna Katalinić from Croatia, exit without a fight in the final.
  • June 2007: 2nd place at the 5th EU Championships in Dublin , victory against Diego di Luisa from Italy, Zarif Radu from Romania and Adem Kılıççı from Turkey, final defeat against Roy Sheahan from Ireland
  • June 2008: 3rd place at the 6th EU Championships in Cetniewo , victory against Ferman Muzaffer from Turkey, semi-final defeat against Billy Joe Saunders from England
