Sebastian Zbik (born March 17, 1982 in Neubrandenburg ) is a former German boxer who was WBC middleweight champion in 2011 .
amateur
Sebastian Zbik started boxing at SG Aufbau Altentreptow in 1993 and later moved to the state performance center in Schwerin, where he trained with Willi and Otto Ramin and Karsten Röver and graduated from the Schwerin sports high school in 2001 . During his career as an amateur, he played 152 fights, of which he finished 130 victorious. He was two-time German youth champion and 1999 German junior champion. In 2002 he became German champion with a final victory over Lukas Wilaschek .
At the European Junior Championships in Rijeka in 1999 , he finished third as well as at the 2002 European Senior Championships in Perm . At the 2003 World Cup in Bangkok, he was eliminated in the preliminary round.
Professional career
Zbik began his professional career at Spotlight Boxing in July 2004 , his trainer was first Fritz Sdunek , then Artur Grigorian . After 26 successful fights in the following five years against opponents who were developing, he had pushed his way up the rankings of the world associations that he was nominated by the WBC association for participation in an interim world championship fight against the Italian Domenico Spada . Zbik defeated Spada on July 11, 2009 at the Nürburgring after twelve rounds unanimously on points and became interim world middleweight champion. Zbik then defended the title three times: against the Italian Emanuele Della Rosa, in a rematch against Spada and finally against Jorge Sebastian Heiland from Argentina.
On January 18, 2011, Zbik was declared the WBC middleweight world champion without a fight, as the Argentine title holder Sergio Gabriel Martínez did not defend his title and the title was then revoked. However, Zbik lost the title when he first defended his title at the Staples Center in Los Angeles against the Mexican and former WBC junior world champion Julio César Chavez junior, who was unbeaten in 44 professional fights .
On April 13, 2012 Zbik fought in Cologne against the WBA middleweight superchampion Felix Sturm and lost to technical knockout after the 9th round. His fight exchange of 187,000.00 EUR has not yet been paid out to him by the Universum boxing promotion. Then he ended his career.
