The GETEC Arena (until 2011 Bördelandhalle ) is a multifunctional hall in the Saxony-Anhalt state capital Magdeburg . It is also the largest event hall in the state. The main user is the handball Bundesliga club SC Magdeburg . Since May 26, 2011, the naming rights to GETEC heat & power AG have been sold for five years, which is why it has been called GETEC Arena since July 1, 2011 . The former name Bördelandhalle was derived from the Magdeburger Börde .

The hall is located in the Brückfeld district east of the Elbe , near the MDCC Arena on Berliner Chaussee . The B 1 is in the immediate vicinity . Almost 250 bicycle parking spaces are available. In addition, the arena has 400 parking spaces for motorized individual transport, plus parking spaces for buses and the disabled.
It is connected to public transport via the Arenen stop by tram line 6 and city bus line 51.

The GETEC Arena was built between 1994 and 1997 based on designs by the architects Helmut Blöcher , Raimund Krawinkel and Moritz Kroth . The hall, built as a reinforced concrete structure, is clad with an aluminum / glass facade. The appearance of the hall is determined by a strong emphasis on the construction and appears factual and compact.
It offers a maximum capacity of 7,782 spectators. There are 5,793 seats available for seated concerts and 6,980 seats for standing concerts. In the VIP - Lounge 200 people about have space. The hall has a floor area of 109 × 77 meters, the total land area is 36,700 m². The large indoor hall has a total internal area of 90 × 71 meters, the direct sports floor dimensions are 60 × 30 meters. It has a maximum interior height of 22 meters. The flooring consists of area-elastic linoleum with integrated low-temperature underfloor heating. There is also a warm-up hall and a fitness and strength training room. In the great hall two 9 square meters are LED - video walls installed.

The multifunctional hall is the home ground of the handball Bundesliga clubs of SC Magdeburg . In 2002 the German Open in table tennis was held for the first time . Further editions took place in 2005 and 2014. From November 7 to 12, 2017, the tournament, which has been part of the ITTF World Tour since 2012 , is to be held for the fourth time in the Magdeburg Arena.
