The Friedrich-Ebert-Halle , Eberthalle for short , is a multi-purpose hall in the Rhineland-Palatinate city ​​of Ludwigshafen am Rhein . The handball Bundesliga team of TSG Ludwigshafen-Friesenheim plays its home games in the Eberthalle.

history

The hall was designed by the Viennese architect Roland Rainer and completed in 1965 by the Munich company Dyckerhoff and Widmann . It is located in Ebertpark and is one of the most important multifunctional halls in southwest Germany. The hyperbolic roof shape is particularly striking .

The hall offers a covered exhibition area of ​​3,800 square meters in the great hall and in the foyers as well as a front area with an area of ​​24,000 square meters. It is used for sporting events, trade fairs, exhibitions and concerts. The Golden Tuning Fork was awarded there regularly until 2007 . In the Friedrich-Ebert-Halle the Judo World Championships in 1971 and the Judo European Championships for men in 1977 , the European Wrestling Championships in 1975 , the Indoor Cycling World Championships in 1988 and the Bowling World Championships in 1994, as well as the German gymnastics championships in 1970 and 1979 and the German weightlifting championships 1972. From 1983 to 2012, the international vintage car market Veterama took place on two weekends in April . Exhibitors and visitors from all over Europe came to the Eberthalle for this fair.
