German gymnastics championships

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German gymnastics championships have been held since 1921.

The first gymnastics competitions took place towards the end of the 19th century as part of the German Gymnastics Festival , which can be seen as the forerunner of national apparatus gymnastics championships .

The championships were initially organized by the German Gymnastics Association . Since 1949 the German Gymnastics Federation has been responsible for the alignment.

Since the premiere in Leipzig in 1921 , title fights had been held eight times before the Second World War, such as the championships in 1931 , 1932 , 1934 , 1935 and 1938 ; By 1944 there were 5 war championships, including the championships in 1942 , the 15th German gymnastics championships in Northeim in 1947 and the 16th German gymnastics championships in 1949 as part of the gymnastics festival in Frankfurt / Main.

The championships have been held regularly every year since 1950.

In the GDR the championships took place from 1949 to 1989, in the first year still as eastern zone championships in gymnastics - again as in 1921 in Leipzig.
