German gymnastics championships 1931

The German gymnastics championships in 1931 took place on April 26th of that year in front of around 8,000 spectators in Essen .

The venue was Exhibition Hall V , which was destroyed in the Second World War , i.e. the forerunner of today's Essen Grugahalle . The organizer was the German Gymnastics Association . At the opening, among others, the then Mayor of Essen Franz Bracht and the Minister for People's Welfare in Prussia Heinrich Hirtsiefer and the chairman of the German Gymnastics Association, Alexander Dominicus, spoke . There were 110 participants in ten ranks. The championship consisted of a decathlon with three exercises each on pommel horse , parallel bars and horizontal bar and a freestyle.

Kurt Krötzsch became German all- around champion . A total of 68 participants achieved at least 150 points and were, as the Dortmunder Zeitung wrote, "subsequent winners".
