The Am Hallo sports park is a sports facility in the Stoppenberg district of Essen . The sports park consists of a football stadium with an athletics facility and a sports hall .

Stadion

The groundbreaking ceremony for the plant took place in August 1999. After two years of construction, it was completed in August 2001. The stadium has all the necessary facilities for athletics as well as eight sprint and six circular tracks. The grass pitch is also used for soccer and American football . Under the main stand there is also a 60-meter sprint track and facilities for high, long and triple jump. The stadium has a capacity of around 3800 seats.

The main user of the stadium is Essen athletics such as the LT Stoppenberg. The field is also used by the Assindia Cardinals football team . The attendance record dates from April 8, 2007, when 3750 spectators saw the DFB Cup semi-final between SG Essen-Schönebeck and FCR 2001 Duisburg .

Since the completion of the Essen stadium , the SG Essen-Schönebeck has played there and no longer in the Am Hallo stadium.

Gym

A sports hall was built next to the stadium with a capacity of 2578 spectators. The main users are the handball club TUSEM Essen and the basketball club ETB Wohnbau Baskets . On May 3, 2003, the hall was inaugurated by the Bundesliga game between TUSEM and GWD Minden . In January 2018, the hall suffered water damage . As a result, the city found mold under the ground . The TUSEM must play at least the first four games of the second division 2018/19, which starts in August, in a different hall. The Innogy sports hall in Mülheim an der Ruhr with 2500 seats will be the temporary home of the people of Essen. The repair work should continue until the end of September 2018.
