The full name of the company was Continental - Licht- und Apparatebaugesellschaft mbH Frankfurt a. M.

The company founded in 1908 by Henry Seligmann (born April 23, 1870 in Bingen am Rhein) developed and built acetylene gas generators for welding and lighting purposes, as well as high-intensity lamps in various designs. In 1942 Continental Licht was banned from producing lamps in order to be able to use the few available resources more efficiently.

Until 1944, the company's headquarters and production facility were Mainzer Landstrasse 193 in Frankfurt am Main . From January 1, 1945, Hammanstrasse 6, Mr. Hofmann's private residence, can be found in the files of the trade register as the company's headquarters. Friedrich Hofmann died on June 4, 1966. The Company was ex officio deleted on 15 August 1969 from the Trade Register.
