ITTF World Tour

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The ITTF World Tour is a series of table tennis tournaments held annually by the world association ITTF . Singles, doubles and U-21 competitions are held for women and men. Prize money is available for this.

Up to and including 2011 the tournament series was called Pro Tour , at the beginning of 2012 it was renamed World Tour or World Tour Grand Finals .

execution

In several international championships that are declared as World Tour competitions, the participants earn a certain number of points depending on their placement. The points are added up. The 16 women and men with the most points contest the World Tour Finals ( World Tour Grand Finals ) in singles, and the 8 most successful doubles qualify for the finals. However, participation in at least six tournaments on three different continents is required. Up to and including 2016 there was also an U-21 competition at the Grand Finals, for which the 8 players with the most points earned in the U-21 area qualified. Prize money is paid out at every World Tour tournament.

The Pro Tour series was first played in 1996.
