Qianhong "Hongi" Gotsch (Qianhong He) (born September 7, 1968 in Tianjin ) is a Chinese-German table tennis player . She became European champion in 2000.

Career in China

Qianhong He grew up in China. At the age of 8 she learned to play table tennis. In 1985 and 1986 she was individual youth champion of China. In 1986 she also won the women's singles championship. In 1987 she became student world champion in Sofia. For China, she completed three international matches, but fell out with the coaches responsible and was no longer included in the national team. After a two-year break from table tennis, she moved to Germany in 1991, where she lived in Offenburg with her then husband Li Shusen, a former national coach of China.

Career in Germany

In 1991 she joined the club SV Böblingen , with which she played in the Bundesliga . In 1996 she married Ingo Gotsch and has since performed under the name Qianhong Gotsch . In April 1998 she received German citizenship. She has been a member of the German national team since 1999. She played her first international match on January 13, 1999 in the European league game against Russia, in which she won both singles.

In 1999 she won the German and European ranking tournaments . She had her most successful year in 2000. That year she again won the Europe TOP-12 and became German individual champion . She celebrated her greatest success with individual gold and team silver at the European Championships in 2000 . At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 Gotsch was eliminated in the quarter-finals. Gotsch ended her international career at the end of 2000.

Gotsch currently (2017) plays in the Bundesliga for SV Böblingen and was the best player in Germany in the 2007/2008 preliminary round with a flawless 15-0 record. Before that, she played for TSV Betzingen from 1998 to 2003 .

Gotsch is a defender with the ability to counter with attacking play.

Honors

In 1999 and 2000 Gotsch was player of the year in the DTTB.

Private

Gotsch is married and has two children. She has been elected councilor for the CDU in Gärtringen since 2014 .
