Éva Kóczián
Éva Kóczián, later Kóczián-Földy (born May 25, 1936 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian table tennis player . She is three times European champion in singles and world champion in mixed.
successes
National
Éva Kóczián won the Hungarian national championship six times in singles (1955, 1958, 1959, 1961, 1963, 1967). There are also six titles in doubles and nine titles in mixed. She was part of a team that won the Hungarian championship eleven times:
- 1952 Budapest I.
- 1953 SZOT II.
- 1954 Vasas MÁVAG SK
- 1955 Vasas Budapest
- 1957–1962 Vörös Meteor Budapest
- 1964 Vörös MeteorBudapest
In 1959 - just like in 1966 - it took first place in the Hungarian rankings, and in 1960 and 1965 also first place in the European rankings.
World championships
From 1953 to 1967 she was nominated nine times for world championships . She came to the final in 1961 , which she lost to the Chinese Qiu Zhonghui . In 1955 she won the mixed world championship with Kálmán Szepesi . She reached the semi-finals in singles in 1954 , 1955 and 1959 , in doubles in 1967 with Erzsébet Jurik and in mixed 1953 with Laszlo Földy and 1963 with János Faházi . With the Hungarian team she won the silver medal in 1954 .
European championships
Kóczián was represented five times at European Championships , and she won six golds in the various disciplines. In 1958, 1960 and 1964 she won the singles title, in 1966 she reached the semi-finals. In doubles she won in 1966 with Erzsebet Jurik, which she had previously achieved in 1958 with Lívia Mossóczy and 1960 with Sárolta Máthé . With Ferenc Sidó , she won silver in mixed in 1958. In 1960 and 1966 she was European champion with the Hungarian team, in 1964 she finished second.
End of career
At the end of the 1960s, Kóczián ended her active career. In 1976 she became the coach of the women's team at Spartacus Budapest.
Private
Kóczián's brother József Kóczián was one of the top players in Hungary. On August 6, 1960, Kóczián married her former mixed partner Laszlo Földy and then appeared under the name Kóczián-Földy . When the marriage was divorced in 1966, she took her maiden name Kóczián again.
