Lívia Mossóczy

Lívia Mossóczy - also Olívia Mossóczy - (born May 9, 1936 in Budapest ; † August 18, 2017 ) was a Hungarian table tennis player . She was European champion with the team and world champion in doubles in the 1950s.

Career

In 1955 Lívia Mossóczy won the girls' singles title at the European Youth Championships.

At the Hungarian National Championships in 1957 and 1959, she won the doubles title with Éva Kóczián . In 1967 she became Hungarian team champion with the Ferencvárosi Torna Club .

She took part in world championships twice. With the Hungarian women's team, she was fourth in 1957 and 1959 . In 1957 she won the gold medal in doubles with Agnes Simon . She was represented at the 1958 European Championship for adults . Here she reached the final with Éva Kóczián , which she lost against the Romanians Angelica Rozeanu / Ella Zeller . In singles and in mixed matches with Elemér Gyetvai , Mossóczy made it to the semi-finals. At the next European Championship in 1960 she was European champion with the Hungarian women's team.

In the ITTF world rankings she was 10th in 1957.

Private

Lívia Mossóczy is married and has been called Banhegyi since then .
