The table tennis association Lower Saxony e. V. (TTVN for short) is the amalgamation of table tennis clubs in Lower Saxony . According to the number of members, it is the second largest regional association in the DTTB (behind the Bavarian Table Tennis Association and ahead of the West German Table Tennis Association ). The office is in Hanover.

Currently (2006) around 1,600 clubs with more than 8,000 teams and around 90,000 active members are affiliated with it. The association is divided into the four districts of Braunschweig (11 districts), Hanover (6 districts), Lüneburg (11 districts) and Weser-Ems (16 districts).

The current president is Heinz Böhne.

The official organ of the TTVN is the magazine Tischtennis Magazin which appears monthly.

history

The TTVN was founded on June 28, 1947 in Braunschweig in the Bockstwete bunker . The main initiator was Werner Kiene , who had prepared this foundation in December 1946 with the district technical control room in Göttingen. The first board consisted of:

  • 1st Chairman: Rudolf Gerlach (Braunschweig) (until 1950)
  • 2nd Chairman: Werner Kiene (Bremerhaven) (until 1950 and 1972–1978)
  • Treasurer: Carl Adloff (Sehlde) (until 1950)
  • Secretary: Hans-Georg Gerlach (Braunschweig) (until 1950)
  • Youth manager: Walter Holthusen (Steinkirchen) (until 1949)
  • Sports manager: Franz Frank (Hildesheim) (until 1948)
  • Press officer: Heinz Böcker (Peine) († 1966) (until 1950)

The office was the House of Sports in Hanover.

The Bremen district also belonged to the association at that time. On January 19, 1951, the Bremen district association resigned and founded its own regional association, Fachverband Tischtennis Bremen . On February 11th of the same year Ernst Reiss took over the chairmanship. He was followed by Hans Giesecke in 1979 .

At the end of 2003, the office in Hanover moved to the Akademie des Sports.
