Herbert Gomolla

Herbert Gomolla (born April 7, 1935 in Beuthen ) is a former German table tennis player . He was twice German champion in doubles.

successes

Gomolla first played for MTV Salzgitter , where he and his twin brother Ernst formed the top pair cross as early as 1955 . With the MTV team, he won the German Cup in 1960. In 1963 Herbert Gomolla moved to VfL Osnabrück and became German team champions in 1966 and 1968; in the championship team he also played with his brother Ernst. In 1959 and 1965 the brothers became German champions in doubles. In addition, the twins also won the North German title in men's doubles five times by 1967. In 1968 he left VfL Osnabrück and joined TSV Salzgitter .

In 1957 and 1959 Herbert Gomolla was nominated for the World Championships, where he competed in the individual competitions. He did not come to international matches.

Private

In addition to his twin brother Ernst , he also had a younger sister Rosemarie , who was twice German champion in women's singles. In Salzgitter he worked as a technical employee. He has been married since early 1963 and has two children. After the end of his table tennis career, he switched to tennis. Here he reached regional league strength, he also worked as a coach.
