The Table Tennis Association Württemberg-Hohenzollern (TTVWH) is the largest of the three table tennis associations in Baden-Württemberg and is subordinate to the top association, the German Table Tennis Association (DTTB). The seat and office are in Stuttgart .

history

Around 1930 the clubs TTC 1930 Heilbronn, Stuttgarter Kickers , SpVgg Neckarsulm and PSV Stuttgart organized a game operation that was inactive during the war. The later DTTB president Karl-Heinz Eckardt was also involved in this. After the war, the two associations Württemberg and Südwürttemberg-Hohenzollern came into being independently of each other as predecessors of the TTVWH .

The table tennis division in Württemberg was founded on May 26, 1946 by Erwin Zeller († 2014) (Schwaben Stuttgart) and Werner Seifert (Stuttgarter Kickers). It worked with the Württemberg State Sports Association and renamed itself the table tennis specialist group in 1947 . On July 31, 1948, it was renamed the Württembergischer Tischtennis-Verband (WTTV). At the same time, the South Württemberg-Hohenzollern section was founded in 1947 . On January 6, 1951, the two associations merged in Sigmaringen. The Association Day in Plochingen on July 22, 1951 determined the current name of TTV Württemberg-Hohenzollern . Initially, the area was divided into eight districts. After a few changes, the current structure with 15 districts was created in 1956. In 1971, Günter Stierle, the first association coach, was hired. In September 1976 this was replaced by Edvard Vecko , who stayed until mid-1982.

At the beginning of the 1990s, there were initiatives to unite the three member associations Badischer TTV, Südbadischer TTV and TTV Württemberg-Hohenzollern into a joint association Baden-Württemberg. In anticipation of this merger, joint Baden-Württemberg championships were held in Neckarsulm in January 1995. Although the two associations Baden and Württemberg-Hohenzollern approved the merger with a large majority, the South Baden TTV rejected this project. The merger therefore did not materialize.

At the end of June 2020, the table tennis association Württemberg-Hohenzollern (TTVWH) and the Südbadische TTV decided to merge on January 1, 2020.

Events

The TTVWH offers a wide range of sporting events. In addition to competitions at the association or district level (championships and ranked tournaments), the association also organizes events in senior, school and popular sports.

In addition to the sports competitions, it is the events in senior, school and popular sports that offer young and old a large communication platform and convey the fun of table tennis. For example, the TTVWH “on-tour” mobile maintains contact with the schools by introducing various and funny forms of table tennis. But the annual club service day also gives club members the opportunity to take part in various seminars or practical events in table tennis and to collect new ideas.

Employee

The volunteer employees are made up of the Presidium , the Board of Directors (Presidium + 14 other offices) and the Association Committee (Board of Directors + 15 district chairmen + three court representatives + auditor). Full-time employees of the TTVWH are located in the Stuttgart office under the direction of the current managing director Thomas Walter. In addition to the full-time employees, the TTVWH has been offering young people an FSJ position (voluntary social year) since 2004. A training position was set up in 2009 (BA course).
