Association of table tennis Bremen

The Fachverband Tischtennis Bremen (FTT Bremen) is the amalgamation of table tennis clubs in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen . In terms of number of members and in terms of area, it is the smallest regional association in the DTTB . It is also the youngest TT association in the old federal states. The office is located in Bremen , and Tobias Genz has been President since June 2014.

The official organ of the FTT Bremen is the magazine Bremer Tisch-Tennis Spiegel , which appeared for the first time in 1955.

history

On May 24, 1946, a table tennis department was founded in the Bremer Sportbund , to which 9 clubs belonged. The driving forces included Anni Gries, Hans Schwingel, “Bubi” Fahrtmann and Georg Heiliger. This department joined the newly founded Table Tennis Association of Lower Saxony (TTVN) in 1947 . Here represented Werner Kiene from Bremerhaven to Bremen area as the second chairman.

When the DTTB was founded , the aim was that each federal state should have its own table tennis association. So Bremen left the TTVN and founded the professional table tennis association Bremen in January 1951 .

First chairman was Erhard Schulz († August 4, 1960), in 1959 Gert Dieter Elling (born April 17, 1925, † May 19, 1988) took over the management. From 1980 Karl-Heinz Schulz was chairman.

Successful clubs

Among the most successful clubs in the association are Werder Bremen , who played in the 1st Bundesliga in 2005/06 , TuS Vahr , who also played in the 1st Bundesliga from 1983 to 1986 and with 44 teams was one of the largest clubs in Germany .
