Table tennis

In table tennis , both men and women played in the national leagues in the 1980s. Manager and financier during this time was Bernd Köhler, restaurateur from Bremen.

The men rose from the state league to the Bundesliga within four years. In 1981 they were involved in the introduction of the Second Bundesliga. After a 9th place in the 1981/82 season they became champions in the group north a year later. Thus the team around Walter Gründahl , Jonny Hansen, Bernd Koslowski, Georg Smyrek, Wolfgang Froese, Bernd Berndt and Werner Zamzow rose to the 1st Bundesliga . Here she was able to hold out for two seasons with places 8 and nine, but could not assert herself in a relegation round in 1985/86. The club then withdrew the men's team from the Bundesliga.

With the introduction of the Second Bundesliga in 1981, the women were also part of the participating teams. Here they played for eight years and successively reached places 3, 4, 6, 5, 8, 7 6 and 9. In 1988/89 they were relegated.

In 1981, 44 teams were registered, making the club one of the leading German clubs in this regard. Today (2010) there are still two men's and three junior teams registered.
